Katie Matheson

Hi I’m Katie,

My hair journey began in 2011, at what is now the Aveda Institute in Winnipeg followed by training at the Aveda Institute Vancouvers' Advanced Academy. Over the years I have committed countless hours to training, and teaching as both an Aveda Certified Hair Color Educator, and more recently as part of the education team for Color Space Hair Color.

In 2015, I founded Bloom Salon, followed by Spruce Salon in 2019. These ventures were incredibly rewarding, allowing me to create spaces for other talented stylists and build amazing communities. However, in recent years, I’ve decided to step back from salon ownership and focus fully on my passion for doing hair. This change has allowed me to spend more quality time with my family while still doing what I love — creating stunning hair and sharing my expertise with others.

My heart lies in dimensional hair color — I love creating multi-tonal, personalized looks that bring out the best in your natural beauty. From balayage to vibrant transformations, I’m all about helping clients find the perfect style and color to match their personality and lifestyle.

I’m a firm believer that learning is a lifelong journey, which is why I’m always keeping up with new trends, techniques, and products. Teaching is one of my greatest passions, and it’s such a privilege to be able to mentor others in the industry.
